NESCA is one of nineteen neighborhood associations established by the City of Salem to provide a place for residents and business owners to be involved in their city. The neighborhood associations enable residents and business owners to have the opportunity to have direct conversations with city staff and their City Councilor.
Founded October 22, 1973, NorthEast Salem Community Association, NESCA, is one of 19 neighborhood associations officially recognized by the City of Salem. Our association encompasses three city parks including Hoover School Park, Harry and Grace Thorp Park and Geer Community Park. We also are home to Hoover Elementary School and Lancaster Mall.
NESCA welcomes Fire Station 10 to its permanent location at 3611 State Street.
Directly adjacent to NESCA are the Oregon State Hospital Grounds. Plans include building a new hospital and moving all of the state hospital patients to the south side of Center Street. The entire campus has been designated as a historic area and a portion of the original Kirkbride building is being restored to house offices and a future museum.
