Founded October 22, 1973, NorthEast Salem Community Association, NESCA, is one of 19 neighborhood associations officially recognized by the City of Salem. Our association encompasses three city parks including Hoover School Park, Harry and Grace Thorp Park and Geer Community Park. We also are home to Hoover Elementary School and Lancaster Mall.
NESCA welcomes Fire Station 10 to its permanent location on State Street. Special interest currently is focused on the plans the State of Oregon has for the State Mental Hospital, directly adjacent to our neighborhood. Demolition has begun and construction of the new hospital will be starting soon. Click below for a link to the OSH Construction Site and a webcam showing the progress of the construction.
The playground area at Hoover Park has been completely rebuilt. The new playground has equipment for all ages including swings, play structures and climbing equipment A lighted and covered shelter has also been added to the park for picnics.
